Telemarketers have different ways of obtaining phione numbers then us everyday people. Someone you may do business with has shared your information with these telemarketers...this is the most likely scenario.

An unlisted number simply means that it is not included in the phone book or directory assistance. It does not mean that the phone number is kept confidential, so it is difficult but not impossible for someone to get the number. when you give your number to a company, any company, you are giving them permission to call you for the next six months. if you do not want that company to share your personal info you must "Opt-out". this means that you give them explicit instructions that they are not to share your information with any other companies. the sale and purchase of lists of telephone numbers compiled by a company in the course of it's business is legal as long as none of the names on the list have opted-out. the next time a telemarkter calls tell them that you are formally requesting to opt-out of future calls from them and all of there partners, subsidiaries, and clients and that you require that your name be completely removed from their list.

also, place yourself on the do-not-call list with the federal government. any company that you have not commenced a business relationship with will be violating the law if they call you.
