It is the rules. Life is not fair. Maybe it is to minimize the stupid question. Maybe you lose 10 points for a question.

I think it is stupid because without people asking questions, no one could answer. I do get the point that if they actually awarded points for asking questions, this thing would be filled with the stupidest s h i t ever. People would just make things up to get points. It would be worse then some of the questions you see on here now.

I think it is fair. If they were what and what, I doubt people would answer as much as ask. So you would have several answers that never got answered because more questions would have been posted. But when you pick your best answer you get +3 points so it is about right if you ask me.

of course it's fair. When you ask a question you are asking for a service, that you pay for in points. It takes more effort and time to compose a reasonable answer and if the points weren't favourable then no-one would have any incentive to answer. Nothing in life is free, so of course people who ask questions should expect to pay, the same way you would for anything in life.

I think this site was set up for people who had "serious" questions to ask others. Because of the amount of ridiculous questions on here, I believe that Yahoo decided to deduct the 5 points. It at least prevents people from asking stupid questions...just to ask something. YES....I think its' fair (and only for that reason).

no it's not fair ....you lose points for asking some very deep and intellectual questions and to answer these questions can take a lot of deep concentrating, and for them to only give you 2 points is absurd.....Lets do a petition lol

I think it is fair.Because when you ask a question, you lose 5 points. In order to get back the points, the only way is to vote, answer, choose a best answer and rate people's best answer. If not it is called Yahoo!Question but not Yahoo!Answers.Right?

yes b/c when you really want an answer to a real question it's worth the loss of 5 points if you get a good answer.

Yes, I think it's pretty fair. Because Yahoo does that by promoting you do answer many questions, in order to recuperate those lost points.
If not, Yahoo Answers would be called Yahoo Questions, don't you agree?
