i was amazed to read that a man was able to move a cursor with his thoughts, enabling him to use a computer. he is a paraplegic. there is no bane to this. it opens up a type of freedom for him. there will always the threat of biological terrorism, but to give a paraplegic freedom from his afflication? no question, it is a boon to mankind.

To Debi K, the cursor is not moved with thoughts, but the movement of the eyelashes. When your eyes move, there are minute movements of the eyelashes that the cursor moving software picks up.
Biotechnology is a boon when used for good. It is how scientists came up with cures for diseases, and vaccines. Without biotechnology, we would never have found the vaccine for polio, or AZT for the treatment of AIDS, or allergy medications, or prosthetics.
Biotechnology when use for bad is a bane. Like the above person said, bioterrorism is a classic example.

Biotechnology, if used in a good sense, is a boon. It helps to cure many diseases, to change the phenotype of an organism to achieve required results to increase the efficiency of a compound by making suitable changes and to increase the overall efficiency of a cell. In future, biotechnology may be used to overcome world's food problem also! But biotechnology can be harmful if it is used in a bad sense. The classic example bioterrrorism.
