My first child was a boy. He was such a good baby. When I had my second child my son was 4 almost 5, and I had a girl. I felt a little different just because boys were all I knew how to raise at that point. Now she is 5 and she is the coolest little woman. My ex-husband is more lenient with her than our son. All she has to do is say please with a smile and a kiss. He is jello in her hands. But hunting and bugs my son rules the territory there. Any child whether it's a boy or a girl. The experience is different but in a good way. No 2 children are a like. Think of it this way. If it's a girl she will keep your wife entertained. Getting their hair done, eyebrow waxes, etc. So supply a a few extra dollars and tell them to have a good time, and the nagging is off you so you and your son can watch the game.

Yes, you are being selfish and foolish as well. There is no guarantee that both your sons will be interested in football.
More to the point, our children do not exist to serve us, though back in the day people thought differently. Children assisted in the farming, the hunting, the family trade, etc. I still like the old ways, but you cannot guarantee the son will share all your interests.
I find if very funny that parents expect so very much, and then are disappointed when the children turn out differently. This causes suffering for both parents and children, and others as in the family and friendship circle. What if you child turns out gay? What then?
So I feel you should accept what G-d gives you, whether it be son or daughter, retarded or "differently enabled" in any way. You will be much happier if you can allow your child to grow into your family with love and tolerance, without too much expectation, which can set you up for failure.

Though you may think this now, if you do have a daughter this will this change the moment she is born. She will be daddy's little girl and you will love her more then imaginable. There really isn't a stronger bond then a father and a daughter, trust me I know. Oh and by the way girls like to go fishing and play football too, Me and my sister live for it, especially fishing.

Yes, you are being selfish. To assume a little girl would nag you is rediculous. You can also watch football and go fishing with a girls, I dont recall reading anything that those 2 things require testicles. How about this.....how about wishing for a healthy happy baby and just feeling blessed that god has given you such a precious gift.

Yes you are being selfish. My first is a boy and he is great and I can't wait to do all the guy stuff with him when he is bigger. He already loves watching football at 6. My second is my little girl and it is amazing. There is a bond between little girlks and their daddies that is better than football and fishing. Just wait to see. Either way it will be great.

I think it is okay to have a preference. The most important thing is that the child is healthy.
Why couldn't you fish or watch football with your daughter? I am 100% woman and when I was growing up I went fishing, watched and played basketball, baseball, and football. I was even taught how to fix cars and how to use tools.
It is 2006, we need to start treating our children as equals and stop determining what we will teach them and how we will spend time with them based on their sex.

No matter what you have, your going to love your child. You'll even wonder why you worried in the first place. Its common to feel a little wishy-washy about the things you can't control. In either case, I think you'll be happy. There's nothing saying that a little girl wouldn't love watching football and going fishing with her daddy and big brother.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy new baby.

Nothing wrong with wish full thinking but don't be disappointed if it doesn't turn out your way...I come from a large family whom generally had boys...and I already knew I'd have sons and was dreaming about the things we would do...I ended up having two girls...never a boy...and as big as my dreams where...I have no regrets...my daughters are everything to me.

Be careful what you wish for. Sometimes daughters and fathers are alot closer than fathers and sons are. With fathers as their teacher, daughters are known to know more about football than some men do and can outfish anyone.

Don't worry about it. It's just how you feel right now. I'm sure once the baby comes out you'll love him / her no matter what the gender is. If you have a little girl she could be Daddy's little girl! By the way... she can play sports too!
