How old are you? Speaking from both points of view: As a child, it's not always easy to see the big picture and what you might consider horrible is just because you don't understand the other factors (finances, time, upcoming life changes) As a parent, it's all too easy just to override children's considerations because we sometimes forget to explain things to our kids. By the way: I know people who have actually lived through dysfuntional parents. (alcholism, child molestation, physical and mental abuse) How does your parents horrible performance compare against those situations?

Just let it go - what good would it be to tell them? I'm assuming you've grown up and you're now out of the house. If you still live there, or if your siblings do, and you think your parents are abusive then call Social Services!
Parents always get defensive when you complain about your childhood, so you might as well just keep it to yourself - or go see a shrink and talk to them about it. You'll feel better....

Before you say anything ask yourself this question...Would my telling them how they failed in the past make a difference for both in the present and future? If not, then I would not say anything. If you think it would, then choose your words very wisely.
