I have an andersen wooden window in my shower. I'm tiling the inside of my shower but I'm wondering how to deal with the window. I don't want to ruin the wood, or even worse ruin the new wall! Please help as I'm a novice at home repair.

OK,

If you want to keep the window: I would pull the molding around the window and tile up to the window frame (leave a 1/2" gap)

then buy "plastic" molding for the window trim - comes in white and "wood" -

retrim window with that - but before you put trim on, run a nice thick bead of caulk on the back of the trim so you form a waterproof barrier between the trim and the tile.

most naderson's are vinal clad on interior so should be fine with little maintance

now water can't' seep into trim , or behind and soak the backer board

Or remover window and use glass block to fill hole - gives you waterproof light.

Buy some decorative border tile to tile a border around the trim on the window and continue tiling your shower. Assuming you were worried about the tile and not the sealing of the trim, it was in the shower and should've been sealed.

Go to Home Depot or the like and ask for a good wood sealer for a window in the shower.

If it is new, ask the company that installed it if they already sealed it.

And keep a towel that you can dry the window with everytime you use the shower.

how about painting it with a clear liquid tile paint? or maybe use a good clear lacquer wood sealer to do the job.

Could you just tile around it?
