Actually the sky really isn't that high when compared to the surface it is covering. Have you ever seen how thin the atmosphere of Earth is compared to the bulk of the rest of Earth? The sky only *appears* high because you are so tiny in comparison, thus it is an illusion of perspective.

Cider has a point. The ground is a certain leel, and the sky is just very high up, even though the clouds look near.
