Lots of great responses....especially from Red Sox fans....my favorite Yankee-Red Sox game was 1978 (Bucky Dent) when Reggie Jackson hit the game winning homer and not Dent (only put them ahead)...Aaron Boone homer close 2nd!

2004 ALCS Game 4, Red Sox defeating the Yankees. I was hanging on every pitching for 5+ hours. It was what baseball is all about.

Schilling's "bloody sock" game in the ALCS is perhaps the gutsiest performance I've ever seen. Bar none. The guy goes through an experimental medical procedure, puts his career on the line, goes out and throws a gem. Love him or hate him, you gotta respect him for it.

In sports, without a doubt, it's Game 3 of the 1987 Canada Cup between Canada and the USSR, with Mario Lemieux scoring the game winning goal with less than 2 minutes to play in the game. Game 8 of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the USSR is also a classic. In baseball, the greatest baseball game that I have ever seen (I was born in 1965) is really hard, there are so many. But the 1993 World Series (Game 6) with Joe Carter's homerun off Mitch Williams has to be up there. Near the top is the 1977 playoff game between the Red Sox and the Yankees, won in Fenway by the pinstripes with a Bucky Dent 3-run homerun.

7/1/04
Yankees 5, Red Sox 4 - 13 innings

Boston scored in the top of the 13th to take the lead but then the Yanks got 2 in the bottom of the inning for the win. The most memorable moment was when Derek Jeter dove face first into the stands near 3B to make a catch to end an inning. I just remember when the game finally got over wanting to call people to share it. It was the greatest game I've ever seen.

As far as football goes yes the game between Texas and USC was awesome but as far as baseball goes I'd say the 1975 World Series between the Reds and the Red Sox when Carlton Fisk hit the famous homerun down the line at Fenway to win game 6!

It's hard to pick one but when the Red Sox won the World Series, every single game wen down to the wire. Perhaps the best was the fourth win against the Yankees after being down by three games; the game that sent them to the World Series.

Baseball or all sports?

Baseball - Aaron Boone hitting the homer to give Yankees the title.

Pro Football - Ben making the tackle against Indy to seal the win.

College Basketball - Laetner making the miracle shot to beat Kentucky (he'd never make that shot again in million tries)

College FB - Ohio State beating Miami for the title

Pro B-ball - Jordon shot to beat the Cavs

Jack Morris pitching a 10 inning shutout in game 7 of the World Series for the Twins. He won 1-0, beating the Braves.

It was an amazing performance.

A close second is the Dodger's game where Kirk Gibson hit the pinch hit home run in the 9th inning, beating and demoralizing the A's. I have seen a World Series won with one at bat, but that did it.
