What happens when we run out of Soliers Reserves? will we bring back the Draft?

You ask a very interesting question.

There is currently no way the US will reinstate the draft. Those who fomented the anti-war riots on college campuses during the 1960s may have claimed to be protesting an unjust war (thereby making their protests "seem" like a moral stance); but the fact is, after the draft ended in 1972, so did the college protests.

The lesson is clear, the protest wasn't about morality, it was about the possibility of people being put in harm's way against their will. The politicians in Washington firmly understand this, and therefore will never cross that bridge. They know it will blow up in their faces.

Still, this legacy of the Baby-Boomers (It's all about ME) cannot go unchallenged. I firmly believe that every able bodied man and woman should be required to give two years inservice to the country. After all, the country gave you peace, freedom, education, and opportunities galore. The least you can do is give something back. Nothing is more important than people understanding that in addition to their rights, they also have "Obligations."

This does not mean that people would have to go into the military for two years; National Service could be fulfilled in any number of ways: The Peace Corps, VISTA, Volunteer work with the Homeless, the elderly, tutoring underprivileged kids, etc. The possibilities open for giving back to society are endless; and every citizen should be required to give something back instead of always being a "taker."

No, why are you guys not freakin getting it? If you don't have enough soldiers to take care of home you bring some back. If it would compromise the conflict overseas for you to bring them back then maybe you should not have gone into that conflict. Afghanistan = good war. Iraq = bad war. Israel = the worst war. Stop picking fights with people if you don't have the resources. Stop picking fights with people period. Maybe if I didn't have to enlist under a maniac like Bush I would consider enlisting. But this guy wants to fight everyone he has a bad feeling about (except the African nations whom actually have horrible leaders that need to be removed from office). Only an idiot would join the military under Bush's regime.

The last time there was a draft it worked out very badly. Young men were drafted and sent to fight in Vietnam. They did not want to be there and therefore did not make the best soldiers. Many got student deferments or fled the country to avoid the draft. As it turned out the sons of rich and influential parents got out of the draft(see George Bush-National Guard). Unless there is a enemy that inspires the nation to mobilize the draft would be a bad dream revisited.

No, it would create a military filled with people whom are risky. Not the majority but even if its 1/10, you got the chance to have nutballs whom will go through the training, learn all the tactics and then turn on ya like we're seeing over in Iraq. Like the soldier who decided to toss a grenade on his own group.

The army just has to slow down and make a more appealing approach with this. And second the leadership has to choose a more clear fight. This whole War on Terror is ridiculously shrouded in political jargon so the average person who may be willing to fight will be turned off by the politicized nature of this war. Therefore, its not even a unified approach to the army which is intself detrimental to the entire thing.

No the draft is dead an I hope it stays so. If you had a draft then *** holes like Cindy Sheena could say with some confidence that their sons did something they did not ask for. A it Cindy your son ask to join a voluntary Army an get killed and you do nothing but disrespect him.

Yes, we should all have to serve our two years, either civil or military. By teaching honor and self respect, and by building work ethic our country would be far better off. The welfare payroll will most certainly dwindle too.
Obviously, my views are not politically correct but you did ask "should".

Furthermore we do have a draft...selective service ring a bell?

Hell Yeah! We should have a draft right now too. As a matter of fact judges should go back to giving young adults the choice of jail or the service, when they have commited minor crimes.
