We all "wasted" time watching it because we wanted to watch it. Nobody forced any of us to view it but I think the problem is that the media/film industry made a big fuss about it with the result that everyone felt they had to watch it. Most of the films they rave about turn out to be a disappointment, because they've been hyped up and we feel we have to follow the trend and see it. Sometimes you can be made to feel rather ignorant if you say "I think it was crap", but secretly a lot more people feel the same way.
I watched it simply because it was classed as a modern western, but I disliked the way it kept leaping forward in time just to show the two of them meeting up again and doing the same thing.

Because it was meant to be one of the best films ever if the hype was to be believed, what a let down. I didn't understand most of what Heath Ledger said!

Im afraid my dear you fell for that old chestnut...hype! All these guys having to go with their girlfriends and PRETEND to like it (or at least appreciate the artistic contect. Yes you know who you are suckers! I dont like cowboy movies that much, dislike romatic movies and dont want to watch two guys banging! Guess these days i'm now a homophobic even though I honestly couldn't give a shyt what people want to get up to! When they bring out an all action lesbian cowgirl movie without the romance then I might go buy a ticket! PS Glad Crash won the oscar cos was a really good movie! Peace!

I think a lot of people raved about it because it they worried if they didn't they would be labelled homophobic. I think it was a well-shot but reasonably average film that was blown out of proportion because of its openly gay content. Although it deserved some of the awards it won, I was certainly glad it didn't receive the best picture Oscar for which it was nominated as that would have been thoroughly undeserved. It's not a *bad* movie, but it's far from best of the year material.

look..its an independent movie. what the hell did you think it was going to be about?? its not going to have things blowing up, and a guy magically saving the girl in the end. its not mainstream hollywood crap which is why you didn't get it.
honestly i wasn't expecting anything when i watched, maybe that's why i liked it so much. and it was shot beautifully, and so much came across without the actors having to say much. and you could tell how much it sucked to have to hide such a lifestlye, BECAUSE they are suppossed to be manly cowboys. geez..
there are so many more homophobic people out there than i thought. i dont like watching heterosexual people having sex in the movie theater, let alone homosexuals, but there really wasn't that much at all. it was like some making out and maybe one scene where they go at it, but you couldn't see anything.
its nice to see if there were lesbian cowboys people would see that instead. lesbians are still gay you know?! god...double standard even in the gay world.

You just didnt "get it". Not everyone will like a movie even if it is popular. I hated 'Something about Mary' and 'Meet the Parents' but I am one of few, I guess.
However, I thought 'Brokeback Mountain' was fantastic.
Try putting the subtitles on to find out what he says at the end.

Never seen it, never will.
My brother's girlfriend forced him to watch the DVD version a couple of weeks ago.
He's still got that 1000 yards stare, doesn't talk much either.
Except to say he's having trouble sleeping.
I'm not homophobic, just would prefer not to have to watch.

I haven't seen it and I thank you for your honesty so I don't waste my time renting it. So many people want to "go with what is popular" and just because critics deem a movie Oscar worthy, doesn't mean it is something mainstream America, like me, wants to see.

That's why I refuse to watch it. I knew I would be wasting 2 hours of my life watching gay cowboys. I have nothing against homosexuality but gay and cowboy just don't mix!
