What do you want to know? I listen to alot of greek music.

There's alot of genres, that's for sure...and you can look it up on wikipedia...alot of the old stuff is political like Papazoglou and some Dalara...

My favorite genre of Greek music is the zebekiko (came from "rebetiko")...This type of music originated from the urban poor...I read in an old greek history book that men would sit around in a bsement and smoke hash, and then one of them would start singing, and because they were all high they would start dancing in the zebekiko fashion...which sometimes looks like the person is tripping over themselves, head low...In this genre, I would recommend Tsitanis' music, especially "Sinefiasmeni Kiriaki" (e.g. Cloudy Sunday)...For modern stuff, I would recommend Mitropano, especially "Roza" and "Ladadika" ...Sfakianaki is also very good, with songs like "Soma Mou" and "O Aetos"...

Another genre I like are laika...This is the popular music which most people ance to at gatherings like weddings and baptisms or wherever...There's too many to name...Classic would be Glykeria, Marinella, Kazantzizis who is one of the most respected Greek artists of all time (along with Marinella of course, she has a beautiful voice)...

Then there's tsifteteli, which was influenced by Turkish music...Most popular modern music falls under this category...Mazonaki, Vandi, Vissi and so on...Mazonaki also has some rap segments in his songs...a little americanized..."zilevo", "gucci forema", "amanes" fall under this category...Other popular artists in Greece are Kokkinou, Zina and so on...

There's also Greek rock...and I really like the lyrical content...so if you are fluent in Greek, listen to some greek rock, like Pix Lax...My favorite is "monaksia mou ola"...another greek rock band is Xilina Spathia or sth like that...their hit is called "liomeno Pagoto"...

Then comes a category, I call soft rock, or ballads...it's popular..Vardi has some nice songs...like "Gia ena lepto"...

Anyways I could go on and on...so I'll stop here...and provide you with a couple of links...
