I would be very aprehensive, as it could create a very uncomfortable atmosphere for all if your future in-laws and kids get off on the wrong foot. Christmas is a stressfull and excitable period at the best of times, and is plenty of time before this event, I would say it would be advantagous to meet these people first just to break the ice.

Also, discuss this with your partner and especially your children and see how they feel about this. They may be just fine, and kids do tend to behave more in strange environments.

Yes I think it is worth traveling. I took my boy friends over 500 miles all the time to Vegas. When we go we stay at my fathers house. I think it would be fine. Your partners parents will understand about the kids fighting. They had young children at one point in their life. Just remind you kids that they are guess and they need to be a bit more repectful.

If you haven't meet them yet you really should. And you better get use to the kids, if you stay involved with this man you will be MOM.

yeah, but not at Christmas, that is asking for trouble. Choose a less stressful time of the year and do yourself a favour: fly don't drive or take the train.

No, not to meet the for the first time, it could spoil everyone's xmas. Very stressful at the best of times. I would invite them to visit you first, they are under no obligation to stay.

sure..why not. you can watch someone else's family argue all Christmas and it will give you a break from your own kids having someone tp distract you or them. christmas is crappy anyway and fighting and arguing is the best fun you'll get. go for it. get drunk if it goes wrong.

you need to meet them. If its the kids grandparents they need to see them. try to see if you can stay in a motel as an alternative to staying with strangers until you get to know them.

At that stage, probably yes. You are due a visit, but if it ends up like hell on earth, think of that leverage you then have over your other half!
