I am dominant and have been into it for about 4 years. Not that long but long enough to gain some experience and learn a good bit. I am involved in a BDSM group in my area (Tucson AZ) and I highly recommend that if you have one in your area you go, at least for the discussions. Be careful, some see our kink as abuse still when really it isn't. It is consentual between two adults. Most not into our lifestyle/kink get confused.
BDSM is an art, and a way of life. I am very much dominant. However I did try being submissive. While it was great that I learned the "other sides point of view" and that I learned many new techniques, being submissive is not for me. To each their own!
How long have you been into this? What city are you from?
Do searches in google/ask for "BDSM in (your area)." Normally some will pop-up.
For me in Tucson, the best place is desert dominion. http://desertdominion.org/
If you need to know anything else feel free to email me at master_mike_81@yahoo.com or via messenger at master_mike_81. Take care, and good luck in the lifestyle, whether a new fetish or one you are trying to grow upon!

Look in your local phone book. I personally met my local BDSM group through going to the local sex shop and asking about. The guy behind the desk gave me a contact number. The same sort of approach may help you.
Go to websites like alt.com or bondage.com or one of the piles of internet chat sites devoted to BDSM. I'd also recommend reading a *lot* before you get involved in anything online or real life (you need to be armed with the right information, there are a lot of people who misunderstand what they are really doing). Try "Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns" as a start, its a great book for beginners. You may find this book on ebay. If not there, then try amazon.
Whatever you do, do not judge yourself on other people's experience level or standards. You will find your own groove in the lifestyle, and setttle into it in your own way. You will also always progress at your own speed, do not let anyone rush you into something you are not comfortable with.
I hope this has helped some. Good luck and have fun!

No good for small towns. You have to go to a large city with a sizable population, or...start your own and let others find YOU.
