Well, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Jimmi Hendrix and Jimmy Page are brilliant, Kurt Cobain is OK, David Gilmour and Syd Barrett are/were gd, Justin and Dan Hawkins should be up there with Eric Clapton etc because they do awsome dual solos and they work together really well, especially in the solo on Love Is Only A Feeling. Slash is good, but one name is missing-Billy Joe Armstrong has to be one of the greatest guitarists with Eric Clapton, Jimmi Hendrix etc etc

Alright, here's the facts. Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Duane Allman, Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, Johnny Winter, Al Dimeola, Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, and B.B. King were all excellent guitarists. But no one, before or after, comes close to the musical genius of Jimi Hendrix. Stevie Ray Vaughn would be 2nd.

Slash isn't too shabby. I'd say the most naturally talented guitarist since Hendrix. Personally I think Eddie Van Halen is a bit overrated. Sure, he's fast and has a unique technique, but he's not very versatile.

Jimmy Page is awesome. Kirk Hammet from Metallica is a big favourite of mine. He's incredibly versatile, technically perfect and very creative.

But for me it has to be Hendrix. He just sounded so organic. He was so at home with the instrument.... he knew it so well... it was an extension of his body, not an instrument he strapped on. He's not a musician who ever set out to impress.... just to do his thing and entertain. What he's doing never sounds massively complicated, but then you either think about it for a second or watch a video of him, and you realise that he's often playing 2 or 3 guitar parts simultaneously. He was simply phenomenal.... a magician.

Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Brian May, Slash, CC Deville (I know that he is from Poison, but you have to admit, he was pretty good!) Angus Young, and Joe Perry. Definetly Hendrix though, and if you don't agree with me, why don't you go try to play a guitar stringed backwards?

Its definetly Jimmy Page.
There are other amazing guitarists like Jeff Beck, Zakk Wylde, Eddie Van Halen & David Gilmore.
But, Jimmy Page is a class apart!
