We did not evolve from apes. We all (apes, man, horses, houseflies, birds, dinosaurs, etc) evolved from a common pool of sludge that formed the first amino acids. All creatures on this planet share the same common trait of a two strand DNA sequence.

Okay, if humans evolved from apes, why do some creationists ask why there are still apes? The answer is quite straightforward; they are disrespecting their God, and their God's decision to create apes in the first place, let alone keep them around, as is His plan. Blasphemers!!! I like simple minded Christians; their Religion and doctrines are so easy to use in counter arguments against them. You don't even need a particularly good knowledge of Christianity to turn the tables. It's almost like shooting fish in a barrel.

We are descended from apes. We are not descended from todays apes. We and the other Great Apes (Chimps, Orangutans and Gorillas) share a common ancestor, who was also a Great Ape.

I don't believe we came from apes.

According to Wikipedia, here's the definition:

"Humans, or human beings, are bipedal primates belonging to the mammalian species Homo sapiens (Latin for "wise man" or "knowing man") under the family Hominidae (the great apes)."

Human being is derived from the Latin name of our species / genus which is Homo Sapien, meaning "Knowing Man".

Regardless of what has been said above, we are Primates as are Chimpanzes and Gorillas, we split from them between 5 and 8 million years ago.

I'm sure one of my friends evolved from a squirrel, and another from a hedgehog if his hairdo is anything to go by.

Human being. What about Homo Sapien.
