Official press reports indicate that his wife, Tracy, filed for divorce in January of this year (separted in the Fall of '05) citing "irreconcilable difference" and that they have parted on good terms remaining the "best for friends. Tracy is seeking custody of their two children with visting rights for Babyface (Kenneth). Officially, there is "no comment".
As they are keeping it hush, it is hard to know the real reason, other than they were a power couple with equal standing...she was no wallflower by any means and a huge part of his success.
Gossip is that Babyface" fathered an illegitimate son who has been trying to extort $9 million from the Grammy-winning star by threatening to go public with the story. The fella alleging this was arrested not too long after the divorce was filed, this could be a huge factor.
Gossip also has it that Tracy may be headed down the aisle with top music attorney Londell McMillan; it is hard to say whether this bloomed after the split, or before.

i bet they probably just got into and it got so bad that they didn't want to be part of the lost lasting marrigae any more.
