They're not a shoe-in (sp?), but yes, they should hold on. All teams have played roughly 100 games, with 62 left to play. The Tigers are now 8 games up in the loss column, their records are:
Det 68 - 33
Minn 59 -41
Chi 59-41
Let's say Detroit only goes 33 and 28 the rest of the way, and finishes at 101-61, the Twins or White Sox would have to finish 42-20 just to tie them....So, as hot as the Twins are, I don't believe they or the White Sox can keep up that pace the rest of the way.
I see Detroit winning the division by 3-5 games.

I'm from Michigan, and there hasn't been this much buzz about the Tigers since 1993, in the days of Cecil Fielder and Rob Deer and the power hitters that used to crowd the lineup.
This team has a chance to do something special, and I believe it can happen. If they get another starter or maybe a reliever, then this team will run away with this division. My prediction is Tigers win this division by at least 5 games

The Tigers are definently going to be seen in the post-season. The Tigers are gonna win against the twins and continue their dominacne in the AL. Though the Tigers didnt have a good start against the big teams (Yankees, White Sox, Red Sox) by starting out 3-10. They beat the White Sox 2 outta 3 games. If we get Soriano (which is higky unlikely) it would be awesome! But we have our aces on the mound and power everywhere else, making the Tigers a force to reckon with.

They have a tough stretch in August that will test them.
They should hold on to win the division, but in the end the final gap will be smaller than 8 1/2 games.

I think they can win the division and have baseball's best record, but, no way they'll be the AL Champ, much less WS Champs. They're in no way getting past the Twins, Red Soxs, Yanks or White Soxs in the post season ... They are just like the Cardinals of the past 2 seasons.

8.5 games is nothing to sneeze at, my friend.
The Tigers need to stay focused...and not lose sight of the game at hand.
I think Jim Leyland plays a huge role in that area.
In the end I think Detroit wins the division by 3 games, tops.

I'm from Detroit, so it's a natural choice for me to love the Tigers!
It would be really cool if they could keep this up!

I think they can as long as the pitching, especially old man Rogers holds up. I hope they win it all. I'm a Cardinals fan but I don't think they will make it that far this year and I'd like to see Pudge get one more ring.
