Laura,

If a man smokes and drinks heavily, it may increase your chances because he is much more likely to be irresponsible and unreliable.

My advice is to run and don't look back. A good woman should not be looking at a man with a glass in his hand and a ciggy in the other. Make for the exit, and do not delay, there are good men out there, your concern demonstrates you are worthy of better.

I hope I am not too judgemental, I would not wish to cause offence but you ask and this is my answer.

Heavy drinking and smoking can certainly affect a mans fertility just like it can a womans. If a couple are trying for a baby they have more chance if both of them cut out the drinking and smoking.

Nah. My man smokes weed on a daily basis, stoogs on a weekly basis and every other weekend he goes out with da guys and gets ripped. I am now seven months pregnant. That has nothing to do with conceiving a baby. With my first child we were young so we were more intoxicated back then and we had our beautiful daughter. So don't worry about that and good luck to ya!

Well the smoking and drinking will affect his sperm, more mutations and the like.

And if he's a heavy drinker the chances are he won't be able to get it up anyway.

Probably not, but why would you want to risk getting pregnant from a man like this?

yes it affects, but it doesn't mean that you will not conceive. even if you conceive as well, if he used to smoke near you while you are pregnant, then also it will affect your baby's health and your's as well.

Yes, because drinking and smoking can cause impotence (no sex - no pregnancy) or weaken the sperm.
