they dont have to work, so they have more free time. endless holidays to fantastic destinations, luxurious houses in peicefull estates, no worries about where the next meal is comming from. better education and health services. they can pay people to cook and clean for them.... and generally just do whatever they want to do.

you cant tell me that through all this they are totally miserable, and so desperately wish they were poor.

Well, you could ask Christina Onassis, but she's dead. She was the richest woman in the world, had every material possession a person could ever want. She had plastic surgery, had married several times, had a baby, travelled the world many times over, had houses in many different places, her "salary" was $1,000,000 per month. She had luxuries that you and I could not even imagine. She attempted suicide on several occassions. She was the saddest person in the world who ended up dying of heart failure (which was probably a drug overdose) at age 37. So no, I do not believe that money buys happiness. It can make life comfortable. But, if you're not happy right now, no amount of money or anything else will change that. Because, wherever you go, there you are!

...grass greenier on the other side of the fence, eh? Why do rich people commit suicide? Maybe you could do a search on the Internet to find out satistics for rich and poor suicides, mental illness, etc. I sure do like my newer car, but before I had a car a few years ago, I was still doing just fine, did not know if I was mssing a car... doing fine... relatively speaking as I have severe medical condition that money cannot alleviate.

I agree with you. Money gives you more choices which makes you happier. I dont care what anyone says but being skint is no fun at all. Sting once sang
" Blessed are the poor, for they shall inherit the earth
What good is a used up world and how can it be worth having?"
Exactly!

In a world of money - it does bring happiness, to have a holiday, to afford the kids new clothes, to shop for as much food they want.

I would love to be rich, i believe it would make me be able to buy and give the things i want to family and friends without even worrying about a thing.

Most rich people do work, that is how they got rich. They have more physical comfort and choices, but it isn't those things that make you happy, it is love, self-confidence, a sense of self-worth and money cannot buy those things.

However, I can't remember who said it but: They say that money can't buy you happiness, that may be true, but I'd rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable" good point.

The only people who ever say that are the poor people who have to have some slim hope that the rich can't be that unbelievably happy.

Money makes life easier, yes, but it doesn't guarantee happiness. A lot of rich people ususally have family issues,
"my parents never spend time with me..", etc. They are not all happy.

People with money have more opportunities to do as they like and get a better education.

Don't know, but I wish I could make them happier by relieving them of the burden of having all that money.
