Um I played with Barbies back in the day and it didnt really influence my views/behavior, well as of today I think most of the influence will be in their teenage years when they really start to figure out who they are and anything that they learned back with toys fades too far in their memory to even effect how they'll be in the future. Dolls may have some basic influence with imagination, making up what they would say to each other and creating your own story fro their life, and maybe even hobbies (I grew up with Barbies and my best friend now was a sport fanatic and I love shopping more than she does, maybe a connection?) i dont know, just my opinion.

If he became slightly youthful, i'd say it wasn't a brilliant deal and probable only an element, yet 8 years outdated is boardering on slightly too outdated for this style of habit. i does not forbid your son from twiddling with dolls, or punish him for it, because of fact he alright would have gender/sexuality themes he won't manage to administration OR there may well be no longer something off with him in any respect and dolls are only his very own way of marketing his individualism and stimulating his mind's eye/creativity. What i'd advise is to start identifying to purchase him some neutural gender toys and activities, and slowly eliminate the countless dolls from his series. you may subtley discourage his twiddling with dolls, whilst merchandising different exciting activities and toys for him that are no longer gender particular. Then, finally, you may artwork in some greater boy/masculine toys. instruct him that toy trucks, lego human beings, and action figures could have an identical point of exciting and mind's eye that girly dolls have. attempt twiddling with him with boy toys to motivate him. returned, i does not hassle approximately this too lots until he's showing particularly female behaviors or performing out against his masculinity in different procedures. Then, it is particularly helpful to seek for some therapy...better of success to you!

When I was a child, I played with both. It did not influence my views. If anything it helped me to develop creativity through open-ended play.
