It is normal to be nervous. Just try to remember that pretty much every freshman in the country is going through the exact same thing as you, they are just as nervous as you are. Look around on your first day and you will see it on their faces. Don't worry about lunch so much, there will be lots of other freshmen there too. After the first two weeks everything will be so normal you will wonder what you were nervous about.
(and you will be looking forward to lunch every day!!)

All the new experiences in life bring anxiety and worry on board. I've been through these kind of stuff all the time and it hurts really bad. But in the end, hell will freeze over in a day or two, unless you make enemies faster than you make friends. I'm sure you will be alright. Just don't feel down and try to relax..

Congratulations! Freshman year is fun, but beware the juniors...they like to pick on freshmen. The key to the lunch problem is bringing your own lunch(if your school allows it). Bring the best lunch you can imagine and make friends.

Why did you categorize this under Higher Education? There will be enough freshman in your lunch period to eat with. If not, that's the time to meet people. It's always nerve wracking at first but trust me, by the 3rd week, you'll be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. Good luck

It's not that bad. If it was anything like the high school I was at you would be going to lunch as a class where there are multiple classes in the cafeteria at the same time. Find someone in your class that you know or might like to know and sit with them. Just ask someone if you can sit with them.
