NO, I listen to the musicianship of the band also.. Listen to some Dream Theater and other progressive bands, you'll see, (or hear) what I mean...

Yes, you have to decide if the band has meaningful lyrics and if they are singing about issues and topics that are important to them. But on the other hand, they have to have musical talent as well. It's a combination of the two, but for me, both have to be good in order for me to like a band

yes and no.
I started listening to this band. it had great lyrics and music. i bought the cd. and then i noticed hey all these songs on here have great lyrics. but they aren't that good of songs cuz the music is really boring and so was the dude's voice whenever he sang. so i just kinda stopped listening to that band. but if the band would get a different sound of their music that wasn't so boring and they got a new singer i would prolly start listening to them again.
But alot of times there are songs that i ⥠and they have like the best music. and not so great lyrics. but the music makes up for the sucky lyrics in alot of cases!!! the music just has to be awesome!

Most definetly. When I like a song I like it from all aspects but mostly because the lyrics mean something to me. If the singer sucks but they lyrics are great and they just feel right I dont care if the singer sucks I still love the song.

I think the lyrics play really important role, but the music and lyrics together are the most important things to me.

Yes, I'm super critical of what people write, because I write too...But equally as important is the sound...they have to sound good, obviously....and to be completely honest...I am a sucker for instruments, so if there's a piano, anything played with a bow, or some kind of wind instrument I'm more inclined to make exceptions for lyrical blandness...

Not necessarily.
For some bands I just love them for telling something that's real and explosive music, like Simple Plan or Avril.
Great music and voice attract me as well, like Maximilian Hecker or Bjork.
For great lyrics like Coldplay,Sting, and again Bjork etc.

Yes. I would not want to listen to music that offered me only a beat I liked and the person singing was calling women whores or inciting violence. I wouldn't listen to it. If you are constantly bombarded with negative lyrics and images it eventually takes a toll subconsciously whether you realize it or not.

yes,the best songs always have deep meaningful lyrics, but some songs can be a whole lot of fun without deep lyrics if the instrumentation is good.
