can i cut the convertor without any problems later i can't just put a new flange on that would involve takeing the exhaust off and if i do that i might as well replace the exhaust system which is to costly and the exhaust system is fine except for the flange that hold the 2 together.

Fairly simple, just realigned the exhaust pipe with the converter and replace the rusted bolt. You might want to replace it with a stainless steel, or galvanized nut and bolt to prevent this problem in the future.
I hope this helps. Good luck with that.

Well there are several things you can do, the cheapest would be to repair the bolt, 2ND you could run a straight pipe form the converter back, now idk if your state laws are different but in VA you do not have to have a muffler to pass inspection just resonator and catalytic converter and a pipe that extends 18" from the rear of the cab. Also you can go ahead and get someone to put duals on it. That or just put a sleeve on it from the pipe to the converter.

just a few simple ways to handle it.

well, as long as your not up for an inspection any time soon, cut the thing off from the front of the converter. run a peice of pipe where it was, stick 2 u-bolts on it, and you'll save gas and it'll sound better.
Converters are overrated.
