This was one of my favourite natural history programmes. I first caught it earlier in this year (when it was repeated incessantly)but it was made in 1998 as one of the beeb's first digital forays.

Volumes 3&4 are being sold on Ebay US:

The double DVD for release on 7 August, 2006 contains 8 episodes:
Episode 1: The Time Travellers.
Episode 2: The Deep.
Episode 3: Ring Of Fire.
Episode 4: Journey To The Centre Of The Earth.
Episode 5: The Roof Of The World.
Episode 6: The Big Freeze.
Episode 7: The Living Earth.
Episode 8: A World Apart.

So much for educational establishments! Ask if your local library will order it in. They got a £70 book in for me a few years ago after some committee decided it was ok. For £16 plus postage it's a bargain! If you have a monthly mailorder rental with Amazon or Blockbuster you might be able to rent it for a month for eight quid.
I also agree that they will show it all again on UKtv in the next year, giving you a chance to record it.
The link to the programme

might let you keep an eye on it.

Good Luck

I have all but one episode of this fascinating series that I recorded from UK TV History on VHS. The recording was made more than a year ago but there is a good chance that they will repeat the series at some time in the future. They repeat just about everything else.

Have you tried to see if your local library has a copy you could borrow?
