I too have received e-mail forwarded info indicating that on Aug. 27
Mars will be closer to earth than we will ever see again. E-mail indicated Mars will appear as large as our moon.

So far I cannot find any scientific or media confirmation. Has anyone else seen this confirmed?

No, Mars will never get close enough to the Earth that it will ever appear as large as the moon.

I've seen the e-mail too. The media has said nothing about it as far as I know. And since the moon is closer to us than Mars, I cannot believe that it will look as big as the moon. Maybe just a bright red star, but not another moon in the sky.

I don't think so because it happens only once every 80 years. (Well, I think it is 80.)

It will appear as a bright star, no bigger.
