Why was Dick York (Darin, in the TV show, Bewitched) replaced by Dick Sargent?

Here's what I found.
When Dick York was forced to leave the Bewitched series due to health problems, Sargent stepped into the role. He had first been offered the role in 1964 but was under contract to Universal Studios and unable to accept it. By 1969, however, he was free and played Darrin until the show ended in 1972.

He had torn his back muscles while filming The Road to Cardura by pulling up on the hand car with another person's weight on it. It caused him great pain and the crew of the show had to carry him on and off the set sometimes and he even had special chairs for his back. He finally had to be carried off by ambulance one day and was never physically able to do the show again.

I believe Dick York was sick. Not 100% sure though.

Dick York was a very sick man. he had terible back problems and emphazeme. He could no longer indure the pain.

Dick York was very sick and couldn't continue the show. I forget what it was but it was very debillitating.
