As an individual, whom happens to be an American I can only answer for myself. So, with that said, I will attempt too explain my feelings on the subject. While I am always interested in what others say about the USA, often I find the remarks somewhat disconcerting. I then logically put the remark into context with what is happening in the world & why people may be angry at my country. Sometimes I agree with them! Although many times I believe that a great deal of this anger is due to a variety of sources that have opposing agendas & for the most part, I respect others opinions & their right to have an opinion, whether I agree with them or not. Many of the places in the world an individual can state anti-Americanisms, but cannot state any anti-government feelings about their own country. When I read this kind of blatant anger at my country I often belive that in some way, from this group, individual, country, culture's, (etc.) perspective, the USA may have disappointed them in not living up to all its ideals. I believe that many other cultures have looked at America as a perfect country, instead of a country is made up of normal human beings with all the same characteristics as anywhere else.

Despite our faults, we Americans are not all that bad. Whenever there's a natural disaster anywhere in the world, we're always there to help out (or at least offer). The rest of the world knows this. If we were as bad as some people are making out, those people who spoke out against us would be silenced very quickly through intimidation, threats, and physical violence. Regardless of what may be said, the vast vast majority of Americans (indeed, all of humanity) are primarily concerned with three things:

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I must agree with tobinptrck's answer and add this. As tobinptrck pointed out, some of these people are free to complain about the USA and not their own country. They may simply be using the USA as a release for their pent up hostilities about their own countries. Just like some people get angry at God for allowing bad events to happen in their lives, people in other countries expect America to come to their rescue. When we don't, the anger arises.

Gotta take the good with the bad sometimes. Most of it is just pure ignorance and envy. We have it better here than anybody else in the world and that tends to draw criticism and just pure spitefulness from some people. Like water off a duck's back, I say. If its so bad, then why is everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, trying to get visas to come here? Those who can't or won't get a visa are coming here illegally, so where's the beef?

Depends on the question. Sometimes if they make a valid point, I agree with them. Most of the time, though, the people who post these questions generalize, and I realize that not all Americans are like that. It doesn't really bother me.

It doesn't bother me. I think alot of other countries judge us by what our government is doing. They have to understand that more then 60% of us Americans think our government is wrong, is bad, and we cannot stand our president. We are no different then anyone else. There are good Americans and bad Americans just like there are good and bad in any culture or nationality.
