There are many types of glasses. Most commercial ones come from silicon dioxide (SiO2). But you can get the glassy state from alcohols or other compounds.

Convex/concave glass refers to the curvature. Concave is indented from the flat (like a cave), Convex bends outward. The change in index of refraction from glass to air causes these to act like lenses.

Whether an image is bigger or smaller depends on whether you are talking about a lens or a mirror.

I could only answer one question. The types of glasses are the concave and convex. When you look at a concave glass, the image becomes smaller. When you look at a convex glass, the image will get bigger. Try looking at a spoon...
