Some, but I find this generation will do that more since their music sucks with rap. Teens today listen to Zeppelin, Aerosmith, etc. because they HATE the music of today.

I grew up in my dad's recording studio, so I was introduced to almost all styles of music by him and my mom, who was a huge classical fan. I'd have to say mostly I like listening to George Clinton and Sly Stone (I was there for all their early sessions) from being introduced to it by my dad and classical frommy mom.
My step-kids are in a band and I've taken them from listening to pop when they were little, to Zeppelin, Ozzy, Johnny Cash, Leadbelly, Green Day, Beethoven, Willie Nelson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and everything else. I get them to challenge what is popular, to appreciating the heart and soul in all forms of music... though they still don't care for Korean opera, but I'm still working on them, lol.

My Dad listened to country and big band, my Mom listened to rock and roll. I had a friend down the road who's father listened to opera and jazz. I like all kinds of music because of this.

Yes and no.... they both do listen to (and sing along with) an awful lot of terrible stuff... but just having a look at my HD mp3 player we have...
Donald Fagen, Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Pat Benetar, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, Meat Loaf, Queen, Clapton / Cream, Robert Palmer, Paul Simon / Simon and Garfunkel...
probably amongst many others I can't immediately recall.
(not to mention I have a few numbers by Joan Baez - that's one of my grandmother's!)
Pop fads come and go but good music is eternal.

I can thank my father for introducing me to a wide range of music. He listens to everything from Jazz to Heavy Metal. He taught me that what is popular is not necessarily (usually not) the best. As a result I have a very open mind and a keen ear when it comes to music. Thanks Dad!

well my dad listened to metallica way before i did. and Guns N' Roses... yep so that what music my dad introduced to me.
And my mom well she practically introduced Def leppard, and Bon Jovi to me when i was younger cuz thats all she used to listen to.
As for me though i also introduced some of my music to my mom. When i first started listening to Good Charlotte. My mom started to like Good Charlotte. And now she still does. So i guess she introduced music to me and well i gave back to her by introducing some of my music to her.
My username would still win the fight. thats how strong the name Joel is. so ha i still win no matter what. LOL!☺

I grew up in the 90's, while my parents would always listen to older bands such as Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, etc. I liked it so much growing up, and now all I listen to is old music that my parents grew up with

Oh yeah! I listen to a ton of music from 1920-1950 - that's what I grew up on (it was better than disco) and it's what I still listen to. I love the old standards.
