i'd say experience. i know several people who have their degrees in their respective fields but honestly some of them don't know what the heck they're doing hands on. they have the degree to make better money but they sure don't perform well enough to deserve it.

Education is never wasted, although I think experience gives you the most credibility. However, some people choose to ignore many years of experience if they think you don't have the education to back things up.

I'm kind of in that situation right now. Typical people in my field have an M. A. however I only have a B. A. with 12 years of experience. I find that my opinions and observations do not matter to management for that reason.

i think experience much more important and depends what authority level you keep in the company. For higher management, more education needed. But my experience proves that to be experienced is the best thing and easy to get a job. I have MBA and still unemployed as I do not have much finance /accounting experience.

Education and experience are inter-related. Education is generally considered as formal schooling, but experience is on the job training (things learned by trial and error, techniques improved on, by constant hard work, etc.).They are equally important in my books.
