I feel your pain. In highschool we had 75 people go out for the soccer team with only 18 spots. Here is what worked for me.
Endurance: Average player runs 12 miles a game. If you have endurance you should be just fine. Run a couple miles everyday.
Juggle: Impoves your touch
If you don't have endurance or touch, you must perfect your defense. To do this all you have to do is make sure that you are infront of the offensive player between the ball and your own goal.
Best of Luck!

well the best thing to do is play piggy in the middle cos then u can make ur passes accurate n the person in the middle can also try to get the ball off other ppl so every1 learns sumthin. however the best thing to do is play 3 on 3 wid 3 attackers against 3 defenders thats the best way for a footballer to learn to play proper football!

#1 conditioning, conditioning, conditioning
need i say more.
it always helps to be able to run the full 90 minutes.
#2 Ball touching
do drills, toe tap, knees, chest, etc.
#3 Shooting
stand right at the goal line or against a fence and practice your shot...keep your eye on the ball and fire.
being at the goal line keeps you from having to chase the ball.
#4 good luck!

Play, even pick up games with as many players on each side as you can get, as much as you can. That's all you need. Any other way of training doesn't come close. I hope you make it.

Live it, feel it, be it...
Have more heart than anyone else. A good coach can do more with a person with heart than a show boat with talent.
And for God's sake, get in shape now!!!!
