I was born in 1952. I listened to 40's big band swing, which was my dad's favorite, to rock and country which was my mom's favorite., to the classics of american pop from the 30's and 40's like Nat King Cole and Sinatra from grandma. I have always been around many music styles and eras and to this day I listen to them all. I'm a music lover and I own music from the 30's to the present time as do my adult daughters, who also was exposed to all genres of music.

I was raised on classical and folk music, my dad was an opera nut who was really into music history and theory. My mom was pretty into traditional hymns, too.
I grew up to be a metalhead who loves opera and isn't ashamed to set people know that.

I still like everything I was raised on but I've added a lot of my own stuff.
My dad and I fight over Cecilia Bartolli recordings.

R&B greats like the Whispers, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire the list goes on. Now I listen to pretty much anything. "Music soothes the savage beast so beware of anyone who is not moved by music"

while i was growing up i didn't quite pay attention to music (and I'm glad that I didn't ,because all the crappy genres appeared in my country after the revolution, and listening to them in my youth would have made it hard to give it up now.)
Now,I'm focused towards progressive rock and metal mostly, with bands like Opeth,Anathema or Dream Theater.Music is a big part of everyone's lives. It can calm you down and take away your sorrows in a mere second :)

I used to listen to Marcy a lot. And the Chimpmunks and Bible records -it had the Bible stories made into cute little songs so it made it easier for kids to remember.
I remember falling asleep listening to those records.
