Depends on what you want to use it for.

If you simply want a handheld games platform, the DS (or new DS lite) are the best bet. A wide selection of good games, exclusives, and the new technology makes this a great little package.

However, if you want an all-rounder, the PSP would be better. With mp3 playback, picture viewer, UMD videos and games, it is more varied in capabilities. The graphics are also more refined as befitting a movie player. However, given the games on the DS are more 'old-school' generally this has little difference - and it proves more than capable of dealing with the more graphically demanding games, such as Nintendogs.

So, the main considerations are price and functions. The DS is cheaper, and if you are just going to be gaming on it, ideal.

If your used to the Playstation, just for your information, the controls for PSP and PS2 are completely different due to lack of buttons, and the ds has a built in light, plus good nintendo games for all ages and people, I know a 3 year old that can beat all my freinds in mario kart! so i seriously suggest the DS, and I forgot, DS IS CHEAPER!!!

While the PSP has good games and the ability to use UMD movies, the majority of these are pretty pricey and most of the games on this can be played on a Playstation 2.

The DS however, has alot of unique, original games that no console, or handheld has got. The cost is more affordable. And I love the dual screen and pen thingy ^_^ Nintendogs? Awwww.

Yea go for DS, everytime. Damn it comes in handy on a bus/train trip!

I'd say NO your better off getting the Nintendo Wii which is loads of fun and a whole lot cheaper. Check out the web site

If you are after a mobile gaming platform though and you want playability why not get yourself an oldschool gameboy and loads of games off Ebay? - they are cheap as chips now

I bought the gameboy advance which was supposed to be better but I enjoy all my old gameboy games more.

No way it sucks trust me I mean some of the games look cool but they are not cool. I played some of them and it sucks I wouldn't buy it unless I was a huge mario fan. The Sony Psp is so much cooler you can download music and pictures on it. Also you can buy a upgrade to put on it so that you can watch regular tv where ever you are and the games are freakin awesome and fun to play

No. They're overrated.
If you are willing to spend then you might as well get a PSP. Everything about the PSP is better than the DS.
