people on here (especially this a.m. it seems) bashing US citizens? What did we do to you personally and where is the hate coming from? I'm just sitting here at work minding my own business and all of a sudden --- bam --- I suck because I am a US citizen --- what is up with that?

Don't worry about it. When we're bailing them out financially or saving them from a disaster, they still hate us. These are the same people that have never done anything for anyone else but sit on their butts and cry and complain. You are better than that. Be proud of who you are. Just feel sorry for them and drive on.

For one thing there is the global time differential. It is evening in the Middle East, and morning in the US. Second most of this is Arab propaganda. You might want to consider this the first salvos of cyber terrorism and cyber warfare. They want to Bash the US because the US supports Israel. Truth is that the Arabs have a culture that is retarded by about 1500 years. They do not want to take responsibility for the mess they have made of their own lives and culture, so the US is the Big Bad Evil Empire. But the bottom line is that they have not been able to muster a force capable of destroying Israel in 60 years. They would have you believe that it is because of the US backing, but we have backed Egypt and Saudi Arabia with just as much military hardware. We have NEVER committed ground troops to fight for Israel. Cannot say the same for the Saudis. We went into Kuwait and Iraq to save the Saudi bacon (pun intended). They say they were there first, ah, again NO. The Arabic world that now exist was carved up from the Ottoman empire after World War One by the French and British (spoils of war and all that). The Ottoman empire sided with Austria and lost. They were busted up to secure oil supplies for Europe and to make sure they did not start another World War. Jordan, was actually created by the Saudis so that there could be no Palestinian homeland. Let that sink in. This mess is of the Arabic creation.

Ever since Vietnam the US government has been very abusive of the states of other countries and propaganda. One of the reasons why people don't like Americans is because they seem to be blind to that fact. The other reason is because their life is so different than anyone elses. Now, that might not be bad, but people just can't accept something that's so opposite from them.
I honestly don't have anything against Americans, particularly because I've never met one in person. But I would never trade my life stile for theirs. Plus the government is the most hypocrite in the world.

The Bush administration has made it hard on all of us. I live outside the U.S. and am constantly being asked why this and why that.
His henchmen Cheney and Rumsfeld just add to the problem.
Not that the democrats are any better but I am hoping that they get
in so that we can give them a shot at it.
This Iraq thing worked great on paper but unfortunately combat is not fought on paper. I think at some point soon we should just declare that the Iraqis have a handle on what needs to be done and it's time for us to leave.

America has just deliberately sabotaged the world trade talks.
America refuses to join the rest of the world over kyoto (Amasingly America is getting worst hit by climate change - more tornados, floods etc).
Europe is forced by America to buy American owned produce that it does not want.
America has forced Europe to buy GM soya when it is opposed to it.
America made an agreement on extradition. They insist on extradition to the States but refuse to do it in reverse.
Gitmo.
Rendition flights.
The refusal to observe the Geneva convention.
The flouting of international law in kidnapping people in other countries and taking them to other foreign countries for interogation.

Is all this starting to sound the same? America sees itself as a leader, everyone else sees it as dictating and law breaking and following it's own selfish interest. Sadly they cannot see that most of the world and certainly the West would love to see America offer leadership, honsety and integrity.

Americans abroad tend to give the impression that they consider any non American as a sub species.

I have worked with Americans for over forty years, my son in law is American. I have watched with great sadness as a great country gave up on democracy and freedoms, gave up leadership and started loosing friends as fast as it seemed intent on making enemies.

China and Russia are growing strong economies. If America does not change and offer leadership rather than dictatorship they will almost certainly slip from first place in the world. Certainly Russia seems well placed if it began to offer leadership to other countries to usurp Americas position.

Lastly have you read all the stupid red neck, racist, political and ignorant stuff asked on this site by people purporting to be American?

I know there are many good, nice, peaceful and intelligent Americans out there sadly this does not seem to be reflected in the behaviour of the ones that get noticed.

So as an answer I would say that americans in general are getting it because of their politicians and the vociforous few who get heard.

Good ol' generalisation. If you're American you must be a Bible bashing conservative capitalist, bent on invading innocent countries and robbing them of their oil, same as if you're a Muslim you must be a raving bearded mysogynistic fundamentalist bent on ridding the world of the infidel by any means.

It's so much easier to generalise than to actually know people. America has much to answer for, but so does the rest of the world. But how about adressing your own problems people, before smacking the ones of others?

The real reason they bash? They're jealous of the United States - the greatest, most beautiful country in the world and the only true bastion of freedom in the world. It's an honor.

Don't believe it. People need someone to hate, I guess. The USA gives more, contributes more, helps more than any other nation. Yes, we consume more resources, and that needs to change, for sure. We have freedom here in the USA, and others want to tear that down...it's in people nature to do that. Enjoy being an American and living in such a beautiful land. Remember, you don't know what you have till its gone......

It is happening for the same reason Germans were held in such high regard during WWII. We are collectively being blamed for the sins of the leaders we allowed to seize power in 2000.
