A goat with horns is a danger to itself, other animals and goats, and humans. I know this has already been answered, I just wanted to add that "dehorning" is acually a procedure where grown horns are removed. This is a very risky procedure, done by a vet, as it leaves a hole in the skull where bacteria can enter and is obviously painful for the goat. Goats should have their nubs burned off before they start growing into a horn. This is called "disbudding".

For safety in handling, for safety of other goats, for safety of the goat itself so it doesn't get the horns caught on something. It's also easier on equipment...horns can destroy things much more than a dehorned animal.

So that it doesn't hurt itself or any one else, animal or human. It is an animal, it may or may not have regard for other life, it is less expensive to take the horns out than to replace or "fix" a gored animal.

Tie the horns to your car's bumper, tie Goat's feet to the fence. Start car, hit the gas, no more horns.

They are more agressive with horns.
They won't get them caught in the barbed wire fence.
