I mean we are not living in a John Lennon song here people this is the real world. I believe war is bad, but sometimes neccessary-don't you? If not why has it been happeing since the begging of time? Wars will never end-they are the only way of resoving arguments that cannot be resolved by other means. They are also to protect the beliefs and freedoms of those who wage them. Agree or disagree?

Charles, I do agree with you, but the war in Iraq doesn't qualify as as protecting our freedom.

But then again as a conservative, you probably lack the intellegence to see that, and lack any heart, so your compassionless febality craves the blood of others.

World War Two was necessary. Korea might have been necessary. Vietnam, definitely not. This thing in Iraq, definitely not--Saddam Hussein had no WMD's, and our gvt. knew it, the guy on the top just wanted a war. It is costing a billion dollars a day. That is the country's future being squandered. This is what put the Soviet Union out of business and theres no reason it can't for us, too. Already the dollar has tanked on international exchanges, that is the main reason gasoline costs so much now. Anyway, you got your war, congratulations, hope it makes you happy. As politely as possible let me suggest that you consider signing up, and go fight it if you think its such a good idea.

Yes, I agree but only if we do it right. If we are going to invade another country in the name of freedom we better dam well have the consent of the majority of the free world. It just makes the United States look really bad when we take over a country with a half baked plan on limited resources. I wish we would have waited in Iraq and waited for the correct information and waited for world wide support. Instead we are putting our country at the risk of a future recession because of fuel related inflation. Which is directly related to the current events in the Middle East.

It is hard to believe that today we still question War ! After all that has happened in the last 6 years, it is obvious that this war is about how our world will look for the next century. It truly is a good versus evil war. Most of the world cannot take the blinders off to see that. There is a point when you cannot pacify a radical view anymore. We are at that point. People will die, people will suffer. With any luck at all "good" will win.

No, in the past war was declared when one country tried to invade other country. I don't think world would approve if for example Italy will start attacking France just because they would like to get larger territory. Today you have to imagine an ideology, you have to explain why you want to attack. Israeli is fighting terrorist but what they will gain. They will not win because you can not win terrorist. Israel will have peace in the region when they will listen Palestine's and their asking to have their country.
Wars are needed because weapons sells, and while USA sell the most weapon in the world, I think it is in their interest to make wars around the world.
But I think that most people in the world have higher emotional and intellectual level than we had in the past, that's why we don't approve wars.

I agree 100%. You can't be diplomatic with someone who has no hesitation about slicing your head off. Think about it: what would be going on if we pulled our troops out of Iraq prematurely? Sure, ideally, war is a bad thing, but we live in the real world.

Why wage a war and try to spread democracy if the people there don't want it? If the majority says leave, then leave. War is necessary only to protect your own yard.

HOW TO RESOLVE A DISAGREEMENT

1) Appeasement - One side gives in to the other.

2) Compromise - Both sides give in halfway.

3) War - Outcome depends on victory or stalemate.

A) In victory one side forces the other to give in.

B) In stalemate the situation remains in a state of disagreement.
