Does anyone know anything about volt booster transformers? I need to use a 230V appliance when my source only supplies 208V. What do I need to know to find an effective booster for my circuit breaker panel and how much is it going to cost me?

It's a 230V oven and the panel only supplies 208V. I found a couple online that boost voltage from 208V to 230V but it seems like I need more info like wattage.

Transformers can be used to change 208 to 240 or vice versa. But I would expect an oven to work on either. I've never seen a household range that didn't have a 208 as well as 240V rating. The power will be lower at 208V of course. Any heating device can run at a lower voltage, just with lower power. A motor cannot run at a lower voltage than its rating.

I don't think the power company supplies 208V --> 230V step-up transformers.
What appliance do you have that you MUST use 230Volt? Many would still work at 208V.
A transformer is going to cost you, it is most likely custom made.
I had one done for 1000 VA and that was $250.--
Consider that such a transformer does not have 100% efficiency, so about 10% (at least) of your power will "function as a room heater".

I think you need to talk with the Power Company, seems like you need a Special Transformer to get 208 and removing it might leave you with 240 /110, the normal voltage.
