Good question. snape is a very complex character who trying to lead a double life. He is a double spy for Dumbledore and Voldemort, and he pulls that off very will indeed. Time would tell if Snape was in love with Lily. Probably he was, because I know Lily was the first person who showed any kindness to him; and like all men Snape fell for her because of the kindness she showed to him. If you are nice to man and say the right things to him the things he wants to hear he can be putty in any woman's hands.
On the whole, I would say Harry's Father had to do a lot of character changing to win Lily over since she wasn't the type of girl to go out with a jerk like Harry's Father. If you remember book 5 Harry's Father was a jerk to put it mildly and so he was bond to make a few enemies along the way. Because in a fact Harry's dad was a bully.

I do. Snape is THE most obvious anti-Harry character in the story (other than Voldy, of course). That hatred stems from Snapes' hatred of James and the fact that Lily chose him. Snape is greasy, filthy, and mean. All signs point to the fact that he will protect harry in the end -- for Lily. What I mean is that the REALLY bad guy is NEVER the one you MOST suspect. Everyone suspects Snape.

Snape also protected Harry, Ron, & Hermione when Lupin turned into the werewolf. Despite Snape's nastiness, I think he's a good guy with misguided values.

Yes. This may be one of the reasons Snape hates Harry so much. Because James got Lilly instead of Snape. But there's also the whole James teasing Snape bit that could be the reason he hates Harry, but I think it has more to do with Lilly.

Ä° think snape made an unbreakable vow with dumbledore in that snape would have to kill dumbledore just so voldermord would think that snape is loyal to him and so confide his most important secrets with snape. Ä° am sure snape will help Harry in fighting voldermort and probably die in the attept. After all, he has saved Harry quite a few times already.

No I don't think he liked Lily. In the fifth book she tried to defend him from James and Snape offended her. Maybe he's into Draco's mom.

i thought that too- that snape loved lily, but snape really hates muggles and lily was a muggle. maybe that was the real reason he hated james. i think snape is going to do something dramatic in the last book, maybe kill ron or hermione. jk rowling said it was a possibility that ron or hermione could die in the last book.

hmm...i kind of agree....i thought that alot when i was reading the book, but...i dunno..snape shows so much contempt for everyone, its hard to tell if there's anyone he likes in any way.

but they both are good at potions..that would've impressed snape. hmm...well we won't find out till the next book! really hope she brings that plot line out. that would definitely make things more interesting
