I would say do the opposite of the majority opinion here. If you have an aggressive fish such as an African cichlid, the best idea is to add MORE fish. You would want to get fish with similar aggressive dispositions that are closely the same size as the one you already have. Adding more fish will spread the aggression of all of the fish and there will be less overall stress and physical damage to each individual.

I'm not suggesting you go to your LFS and purchasing 10 new fish all at once. Research into it further (i.e. type of fish, how many your tank will support, etc.) and start with 4-5 at a time so you don't overload your system.

If you go to the pet store, they will tell you what fish's go with what ones. Keep your tank all aggressive, or all calm. It's just the way of some fish. It's bad to mix them up, because the non-aggressive will be eaten

We have agressive fish they are called River ladis or Green Terrors. They bash each other up all the time and they are real territorial... We always move their stones and bits and pieces around so it always mixes them up.

Or just put it in it's own tank

Don't keep it with your goldfish. You'll have to keep it seperate from other fish, or with much bigger fish.
