He has never been a money player. His career stats have been compiled with teams that rarely play meaningful games. It easy to run up the numbers when nothing is on the line but in New York it's a different story. The Yankees are use to winning championship. Every game is meaningful and A-Rod can't deal with the pressure. Look a Derick Jeter, I rather have him at the plate when the game is on the line than anyone else. A-Rod has HOF numbers but I think he is slightly overrated.

Ok how can anyone say the man is overrated, he’s probably the best player in the game today. Is he over paid, Yes. Will he say he’s over paid, Yes. Was he stupid to take the money, Hell no. Anybody that says they wouldn’t take 250,000,000 is a liar. That being said he has 14 Game winning RBIs which leads the league. 280 Batting Average is 25 points below what he normally hits so that is below par his 22 HR puts him in 11th place and on par for a 40 + season. He’s in a slump. When you lose 3 of your starters from your lineup you feel the need to produce more, plus with a weaker lineup he doesn’t have many good pitches to hit.

A-Rod (or Nim-Rod as I prefer to call him) is overratted. He can put up great numbers and has great talent don't get me wrong, but he is not a clutch player and cannot carry a team...which means he isn't anywhere near worth $25 million/year. what good is 48 HRs if he only hits them when the Yankees are up by 10 runs? He has never hit in the clutch and has performed poorly in the post-season. Seattle got better when they got rid of him and so did Texas. Neither won anything with him and neither will the Yankees. However, THAT is not why the Yankee fans dislike him. Contrary to pouplar belief, you don't have to win a championship to be in favor with Yankees fans. Case in point...Don Mattingly. Yankees fans hate Nim-Rod because of his attitude. During his recent slump in Toronto he told the media at a post game interviw that, "if we win, we win. If we lose, it's not the end of the world."....WRONG! For Yankees fans, if you win, its expected, if you lose, it is the end of the world and he better start taking up that attitude if he wants the Yankees fans to back him. Personally, I think he is just another over-rated player that is colapasing under the spotlight of playing in NY and as a Yankees fan myself, I think the team should dump him off on somebody else (where he can be a great player) and cut our losses. The Team will be better off (like all the others) without him.

Yankee fans have got to be the dumbest fans around. Theyre so ignorant and have no clue about baseball. I live in NY and go to both Met games and Yankee games all the time. Yankee fans are just there because they think they're "cool." They are clueless about the game of baseball. Met games you know the fans know what is going on. It's such a great place to be...Shea that is.
So the answer to your question is neither. How could he be overrated when he is gonna break all records in baseball maybe. And a bad season? We'll see what kind of numbers he has when it is all done.

It's both. The minute A-Rod signed that huge contract, he was saddled with impossibly high expectations. He hasn't met them, of course (especially in New York).
The Yankees broght him in to win championships and to be the best player in baseball. He's done neither. So he gets booed.
That's why you won't see a contract as big as his for a long, long time. It's also why you just may see A-Rod ask for a trade this offseason. It would be for the best.

It's not that it is a bad season, or that he is overrated. It is that he can never live up to the enormous amount of money he is making. That and throw in that it is New York. People want him to go 5 for 5 every night and hit 10 homeruns, and we all know that is impossible

He's having an off-year, not really a bad year. If it's a "bad" year, then it's only by his very lofty standards. I would not say he's overrated as his career numbers - especially as a shortstop - were on a pace (and still are) to be historically great.
For him to reverse the overrated tag - fairly or unfairly - he's got to lead the Yanks to the playoffs, and be one of the main guys to also lead them to another title.

He is obviously a good player, but if you can't play in a market like new york and your talent diminishes because of it...he's not the great one everyone pegs him to be...he's can't hit in the clutch, he has nearly 20 errors...hitting in the clutch and having the ability to carry a team is what seperates the good players from the great players...he couldn't carry the Mariners, he couldn't carry the Rangers...he dropped them into last place each year he was on the team...and he can't even carry's Jeter's jock strap

Niether.
He's not having a bad season. Those are decent stats. Not up to his standards, but definitely not bad.
No way is he overrated! He'll retire as the greatest player ever.

He's having a great season for any other baseball player, but he's A-Rod so he's supposed to hit a homerun every time he's at bat.
