80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
While it may feel good to know that we'll see our dead family and friends again, without evidence, its only fanciful thinking on our part.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping others and other 'feel good' pursuits.

I would have to say that the main lesson of this realm of existence is to improve upon the ability to love genuinely and deeply - which also corresponds to the ability on the Other Side to Radiate Spiritual White Light.
We do this by striving to live by The Golden Rule and serving others. Learning how to Radiate Love and doing so on a regular basis is also of key importance.
Life in the Spirit is much easier, less stressful and less painful than it is here. The big advantage of being in a flesh and blood body is that one can evolve much more rapidly but only if one is spiritually conscientious. So when one finally leaves the flesh one can ascend to a significantly higher spiritual plane than one could reach before birth.

It's funny how people say do you have to have a purpose or a meaning. of course you do, how else do you feel successful or happy. I believe this life is a test. depending on whether you pass this test or not determines where you will be afterwards. but only you can find your purpose and believe and faith that you have one.

It's good that you asked this to yourself. As for me, I think life is finding the answer to the question, and then living up to it as much as possible.
Greetings

ya really wanna know? it's an experience thing. we're here to experience everything, both good and bad, in order to add to god's complete encyclopedia of experiences. since god's non-physical, s/he needs us to experience everything for her/im in the physical universe. that's why there's no heaven or hell because god isn't here to condemn us, s/he just wants to observe us to see if s/he made a mistake by creating us. we're like a giant lab experiment, lol!

it's all about finding your purpose and making the best of the time you have on this planet. down falls are there to make us stronger, and our bliss full moments are there to make us realize that life is fun and meant to be enjoyed.
