do you stay calm whatever happens or you lose your nerves when some people insults you or provoke you?

I am fairly thick-skinned and do not get insulted easily - most insults aren't really about the person they're directed at, they're really just a shortcoming in the person spewing them.

I am basically a calm person and very little gets me frazzled. I find that I don't get angry often or easily, but I do get frustrated. I think that in most cases what people call anger is really frustration.

If someone is trying to provoke me, I usually just walk away, it isn't worth it to bother even continuing the discussion or having anything to do with them - what would be the point? I surely wouldn't get anything positive out of it, and am unwilling to give the other person any satisfaction, either.

To me, most instances of anger are just a waste of energy that could be better used elsewhere. I do believe that there are some things that we need to get angry about, the better to initiate change - child molestation, for instance.

You have to pick your battles - decide what is really constructive and worth your effort. The rest is just a waste.

It takes a lot for me to be insulted or provoked. I am a calm person by nature. Even when I get riled, my actions and thoughts are not rash or impulsive.
I tend to address the situation logically and rationally taking in to consideration why this person might be attacking me in this matter.
They may be having a bad day and I was the nearest person for them to vent on, or someone pissed then off before they got to me and I was not their real target or any number of things. By reacting to situations and circumstances the way I do, and I find myself in, with other people, I save a lot of stress and strain on the old brain! Not to mention my blood pressure is simply great!.

I'm pretty high strung, so I'm easily frustrated. What I really hate is people who think they are so smart that they can insult you, and you won't notice it. My mother used to act this way. Perhaps they think they are being subtle, but they are not. Sometimes I have ignored them because I'm embarrassed for them. Now that I'm older (54), I am a bit cooler and more patient with people, but those who are close to you really know how to push your buttons. Now, in a few minutes, I'll go check your other questions. Please don't select any of my answers as the best ones. I don't need the points.

That is easier said than practised. But that is an ideal that everyone of us must try to achieve. Let us pray each day for the grace of God to develop a mind capable of love and compassion towards others, even in the face of provocations.

If I'm in a good mood, anything can just roll off my back. I get cranky when I'm tired. Anything can set me off at that point. When I lose my temper, it's pretty intense. They don't call us the "fightin' Irish" for nothing.

The older I get the more mellow I get. I finally realized that people who spout off like that don't have a clue what they are talking about anyway. So why get mad?
