yes thinking that the grass is greener does lead to depression...

however it is a very human trait to think that somewhere, somehow, sometime, things are better...

perhaps it is better to learn to blossom where you are planted... but then think of all the great adventures you'd miss out on.

I think what you don't have looks better to some people because they don't have the skills to use what they have in their hands. A mature person makes the best of their environment and what they have to be happy. Or if after some real thought and consideration makes changes where necessary. Most of the time they are seeking a fairy tale, whether its romance or material. Look inside for the answers, the light in there when you really listen and watch for it will give you all the satisfaction you need. Negative thinking can lead to depression and a feeling of powerlessness over the world and your life. You always have control of the decisions you make and how you will react to something. Good Luck!!

I think this mentality is evidence of frustration and most people go through that at different times in their lives. They hope all their problems will be solved instantly, and see some other people having things or relationships they want. The problem is that they are only seeing the surface of other people's lives. Everyone has problems, no matter how rich, beautiful and successful they are. If you are spiritual, you can think of your problems as a blessing. You are given certain challenges as an opportunity to grow. Your problems won't end if you can afford a new Mercedes or even a happy family. You will just find life presents you with different challenges.
Now that I've said that, I'd like to say that I really want to move to California, near my son and granddaughter. I live in a beautiful, quiet, ethnically diverse town with a lot of cultural events near me. But I don't like the people here, who are nasty or the fast pace of life here.

No one is really satisfied with their life. Everyone wants more and more. So they look at the people who have more than they do. And those people do the same. In some cases, the grass really is greener on the other side.
