I like the things I like
because I like those things,
not because I'm expected to like those things.

Despite the rhetoric, all people make compromises to one degree or another with their true feelings or opinions in order to be accepted within the cultural norms of society. From telling white lies to avoid hurting another's feelings to repressing potentially dangerous obsessive behavior to avoid condemnation or punishment by society, everyone heeds a certain form of acceptable behavior. The price for going against, rejecting, society's norm is too severe. Not to mention that there are armies of therapists and hundreds of mental institutions to assure general compliance with the norms established by society.

No I do not because Society doesn't dictate to me how I should live my life! I have always gone against the norm! I have been labeled "odd" because of it when in reality people just don't know what to do with someone they can't control or manipulate. I still have friends though and they accept me just as I am and I do them.

I'm a pretender also sometimes. That's life! I think people feel pressurized to be this and that and read about all the Z list celebs in the paper who they idolized.

I did as a very young woman, but not anymore.

Now, I do not always voice an unsolicited opinion but if asked I am lovingly truthful.

Well, I quit laughing at dirty jokes years ago.
I don't care who knows I love the Lord.
So in answer to your question, no, I don't pretend.
