You're going to have to be brave and just go about your business with the deformity or not. People are cruel and will be looking no matter what. You are going to have to be the one to make others comfortable with you. Smile. Answer questions that will come about your appearance. Be laid back about it. Take some classes with other folks and be friendly to them and soon enough they will overlook what is on the outside and see you as perfect on the inside. By the way, no one is perfect whether you can see it or not. I can see how beautiful you are from here! God bless!

I am a dissabled man confined to a wheelchair for life due to medical problems.i have found that since my time in a wheelchair I have had to over come a lot of lack of self confidence so i have just concentrated on the things I am capable of than the ones I am not.I have had a workshop set up for me at home so I can now do some of the things I thought were not possible due to my dissabilities.I am now able to do minimal woodwork but enough to keep me happy and the comunity i live in have come to realise that I can fix/repair all sorts of things even thouh I am confined it is all a matter of finding the few things that you can do well and give them a try it all takes time.

Do you already have a girl in mind? How old are you? Are you in your teens, twenties or later? If you are shy you need to realize that life is "all about rejection!" Girls will reject you and that's okay! At one point, you will return that favor! To build self confidence you need to start believing in yourself, believing in your dreams and your potential! You have something to offer this world and to another human being. Some girl is probably dying for you to ask her to be her girl! There are therapists, good friends, books and spirtual advisors that will help you rebuild or start from new! Don't stress!

This one is very, very hard! I am on disability for seizures... i cannot even go to wal mart around a crowd without my head ticking, I have seizures all of the time, It's hard for me to explain to people around me what is going on, because otherwise... I am "Normal" looking.. self consciousness, I do believe is caused by the public eye, people stare...., Don't you wish that they would just ask questions, instead of being afraid of something that they know nothing about? I have tried to start conversations with strangers when i felt a seiz. coming on, believe it or not... they felt good about knowing more of what to do then just standing by and staring. People cause You, others and myself to feel this way. We as people with disabilities need to get more into the public and make them aware of what they are so afraid of. With them being the way they are... I believe that they are missing out on a-lot of excellent friendships.

You've got to let your personality and who you are shine. You need to be comfortable with who you are in and out. Others shouldn't be judgmental. You know the old "don't judge a book by its cover"? Give people a reason to believe in who you are.
