No , there is no need of any lawyer to file trademark application in India

But getting a trademark been registered is very lengthy and cumbersome process in India.

One has to establish a documentry proof and evidence that since how long you are using this trade name and applicant has to publicize in local news paper several times that they are the registered user of said trade name .

In first attempt the applicant is given temporary registration and after several years when no other applicant claim for the same trade name then the first applicant is given permanent trade mark registration number.

So in my opinion one has to file his application through some trade mark practicener or liasoning person who look after the status of the application time to time.
