Why rey misterio never takes off his mask?

he cant, hes a luchadore, they cant take off there masks, ever,he always wears it when he gows out places to, i think the only time he doesnt is when hes at home, getting a new mask,or going somewhere that he wants to be in disguise like the grocery store.but all the lucha libre wear masks and dont take them off, havent u noticed that? its like a code of honor i think or respect.but rey mysterios the greatest isnt he?i would love to meet him some day.

Because WWE agreed to sign him as a Masked gimmick,.... Mysterio=Misterio=Mysterious

Rey Mysterio=Mysterious King

In wcw there was a story line a match that if he lost he would take of his mask, wich he lost.... and wrestled without it,... He had little sucsess, the only thing i remember without his mask was him beatin then nown Kevin Nash (Diesel) a man thats almost twice the size of Rey Mysterio

He wears the mask to promote his Mysterious Persona, and to $ell Merchindi$e, IM PRETTY SURE HE TAKES OF WHEN HE

With being a Lucha Libre from Mexico it is the tradition to keep them on. However back when Rey Misterio was back in WCW he had lost a match and had to take his mask off. He actually wrestled along time with out it. He was part of a group that also included Konnen who is now in TNA Wrestling.

He's had his mask off a few times like in WCW with the Filthy Animals and when they did the Eddie tribute he took off the mask at then end of his speech he only put his mask back on when he signed with the WWE because the gimmick worked

Luchadores have to lose their masks. Masks are a sign of respect and status in the wrestling culture. Actually, he lost a match in WCW with the stipulation that he could no longer wear his mask. He is actually cute, despite the fake contacts. He looks like a little boy!

Same reason a lot of Luchadores don't - tradition.
He ran without one for a while in WCW, and I think it worked for him. The mask thing was a bit overplayed at the time (Psycosis, Juvitud, etc) so seeing one of them take it off gave a new look at his persona.
Masks don't work for everyone. I remember The Conquistadors (Edge and Christian) and Conquistadors #2 (the Hardy boys).. El Gran Luchador (Paul London).. none Luchadors, and the mask doesn't work for them.
Rey back in wwe and back in the mask works for him.

For a famous superstar, there is always one thing special about him/her.

In this case, it is the Mask. Imagine if Rey is without a mask, he will be just an ordinary wrestler.

It's his character, maybe in the future he will, plus he is sticking to his mexican heritage because they wear masks.

and the person who said his mask is just paint must be a total and complete idiot because everybody can see that it is a real mask

Its the mexican wrestling style they wrestle with masks on to show respect to the others before them and loosing your mask is the most imbarrasing thing to happen. its worse then slapping a big guy with a glove then walking off
