Pujols is a better all around hitter...he hits for higher average than A-Rod and is on pace to have as many home runs as A-Rod by the time he is his age...the problem is most people don't think of Pujols as a defense guy,but he is a good defensive player...i give the better all around skills to A-Rod bc of the speed, but Pujols is the better hitter..best i've seen in a long time except Griffey

Between the two, Albert Pujols hands down. But to say either could come the greatest player of all time..........no way. Between the different eras, it's like mixing apples and oranges. Let's talk about Ruth, Ty Cobb, Chrisy Matthewson, or move on to the epoch of Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, or 'Say Hey Willie Mays', a personal favorite player of mine.
But this a fascinating question and deserves a lot of informed debate. Probably, eternal debate!

That's a trick question. They both have a good chance. I would say Alex Rodriguez because I'm a Yankee fan. But, Pujols is also a terrific player.

How can anyone measure the "greatest player" of all time? You can't...it's impossible...Pujols and Rodriguez play in a different era, one filled with physical training and medicine (some illegal)...You put Williams, Mays, Ruth in today's era and they'd put up unbelievable numbers...Rodriguez is a joke...he's Mr Unclutch...can't play in the spotlight...how can people even consider him as the best player? Being a clutch player is what seperates the good players from the great.

Let's just say they have a chance to be the greatest baseball player of their generation. Because you can argue that forever. There's been a lot of ballplayers before them that could fit the bill as well. They are both Excellent ball players but I think Alex gets the nod here. At 30 years old or 31 whatever he is he's already hit 450 homeruns and should break whatever the record for homeruns is easliy in his career. He may also grab the MVP record as welll.

I'm not gonna say either until one of them wins a championship. Until then they're just like Dan Marino, Loads of stats, no ring.
If one of them does win the WS... A-Rod has the edge over Pujols, just because he's done so much already and there's more time for Pujols to get injured (see Ken Griffey Jr.).
