Westminster is a mainly residential suburban area of northwestern Orange County, California. It lies generally between Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, and Garden Grove. Several important arterial surface roads run through the community while at least three major freeways largely surround it.
There are several large shopping malls in Westminster, a large number of movie theaters, and a good number of small shopping "stip malls" and auto dealerships. Within a short distance are beaches, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, airports, and very substantial major shopping and business centers.
The community has a very large number of older homes built starting in the late 1950's, as well as newer developments. it has a nujmber of local parks. The population has changed in character a great deal over the past few decades. I no longer know the demographics of Westminster, so you should look it up online. At one time the community was pretty much a solid middle-class city but I am certain that has changed a LOT. Property prices there and rents today are most likely terrifying to anyone from most other parts of the U.S. or the world.
Public transportation is below mediocre. There is an anemic bus system that will deliver you to some regional transit centers, especially a rail connection, that gets you into other areas where public surface transit similarly stinks. To live in Westminster you need a car.
If you are a young person whose family may be moving there, you might be glad of it. There's a lot to do in the area in general, and of course the beaches and other recreation offerings are outstanding. I again have been away too long to know current conditions in Westminster, but the community had been surrounded by some towns where there has been some serious difficulty with youth gangs - especially Santa Ana and Garden Grove - as well as some ethnic tensions. I suspect that as in many other parts of Orane County, some schools are reasonbly decent and safe, while others are dangerous war zones where little real learning takes place. My old high school, Santa Ana Valley, at one time was an outstanding school, but if I attended it today I probably would not live through a semester.
Best of luck!
