Since England won the rugby world cup they have been dire... I know they have had to dismantle the team and rebuild it but they have been unable to beat some of the simplest of opponents. The England football team has many of the best players in the world yet cannot beat a far inferior Portugal side even when we had them under the kosh. In test cricket, since we won the Ashes we have trodden on every sides batting until it reaches the tail end and it all goes wrong and the ODIs don't even bear thinking about. Tim Henman has been to many Major Semi-finals but never converted. Jenson Button, widely regarded as a great driver and with several podiums has yet to win a race. It seems we have a nation of great sportsmen who seem to bottle it on the brink of achievement.

Granted, yes we rule at pub sports, but there isn't really much competition. Darts has got the Netherlands, Snooker has South East Asia and that's pretty much it.

The Portugal game is a good example of my point: we didn't play well until we got a man sent off, then something seemed to twig in the players mentality that they needed to stop playing as a group of individuals and start playing as a team. When it was 10 against 11 we played them off the pitch and made Portugal look distinctly average without scoring. And then Portugal won the virtual coin toss that is a penalty shootout.

England is brilliant in most sport, but the sportsmen and treated like royalty and it goes to their heads, they all believe they are invincable. Smart Clothes and WAGS are not what its all about.
If they trained with more gutso and left out the charades, they may actually win.
This is all sports, not just football. Although, the amount these football players get each week in money should be evaluated, and given on a merit basis - that way, they win, they get paid more, or if they lose, they get paid less
As soon as they pull their heads out of the clouds and out of their asses they may just actually do it

England Rugby - change of set up, loss of some genuine world class players with inadequate replacements.
England Football doesnt have many of the best players in the world- its just what the press says
Cricket we've had a huge amount of injuries to key players.
Tim Henman was ranked in the top ten world players for a decade - think he's upset with his career?
Dont know anything about motor racing
So on the whole I'd say what's wrong with England Sport is the unrealistic expectations of it's fans.

it is too class ridden. Since Class is the last big taboo, we just dont seem able to get over the fact that being born in the right circles does not give you the right to run a sporting outfit.
Perfect example West Indian cricket and Welsh rugby. At one time you could not be black and captain the West Indian team and we are going back only 50-60 years. It lead to mad situations of the captain not good enough to play for the team.
Welsh rugby was only tolerated because of the amateur rule which forced a lot of players out and into Rugby League this team the players being victimised for being working class.
Princess Anne has a lot of influence over the Olympic sport why?

Well, since Portugal defeated England in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, then that must make England's team inferior to Portugal's team.

Start with football...yes we have a few excellent players but the media keep 'bigging them up'. They have TOO MUCH MONEY and therefore no incentive or need to win. Our newspapers keep telling everyone how wonderful they are so they don't even need to prove it from a performance point. England has a crap football team because there just isn't room so many big egos on one pitch.......Poor old Henman had too much expectations from the public.

English soccer is the main passionate and common footballer in worldwide soccer as we talk. The followers are continuously ecsatic and the %. of the interest is quite extreme. despite if there are those few who mess it up for the finished u . s .. i'm no longer asserting do no longer purchase your self a pint. All i'm asserting is they commence worry in eu opposition and alter into reckless. it is not all of them i repeat, this is purely a small minority that break it for the finished u . s ..

Sports people are too obsessed with money instead of being able to play well and with commitment to their team they are with, they are always looking for more money
